We do not hold special clinics for gay, bisexual, lesbian or transgender clients. All our services are inclusive and all LGBT people can book appointments in the general clinic.
If you have particular worries, or you wish to be seen by a doctor or nurse of a particular gender, please discuss this with one of our staff. We can usually make arrangements to make your visit as easy and pleasant as possible. Phone the main clinic number (01896 663700) and ask to speak to the nurse.
Edinburgh gay man's clinic
The GUM Clinic in Edinburgh offers a weekly clinic specifically for Gay and Bisexual men:
Please note that the Edinburgh gay man’s clinic is run by the same doctor as the main GUM clinic in the Borders (link to this in box on other pages)–so you should get the same service if you choose to come to the Borders Clinic, except that we can’t offer next day HIV results.
The gay man’s clinic at GUM is for all man who have sex with men. The Gay Man’s Clinic is open from 5pm to 8.15 pm every Wednesday evening. Appointments are available by phoning 0131 536 4444. If you have an urgent problem, you can attend the walk-in service between 5 and 6 pm. If the clinic is busy you may have to wait until the end of the clinic before you are seen.
There are no other clinics running at the same time. The clinic offers a full range of tests and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. HIV counselling and testing is provided – the results are available in person on the next (i.e. Thursday) afternoon. Volunteers from gay men’s health welcome men to the clinic and provide tea and coffee and safer sex information.
