How to arrange to be seen

You don’t have to be referred to the clinic by a doctor – you can arrange the appointment yourself.

Phone for an appointment or advice on:   01896 663700.

It helps if you can tell us what it is you need – we can then book you into the appropriate clinic. The receptionist will give you an appointment time for any of our clinics or arrange for you to speak to someone.

You can use the main number to book an appointment for any clinic.

If you have symptoms or you feel that the problem is urgent and can’t wait, you may come to our walk-in clinic or drop-in clinics.

GP referral

If you have a longstanding or chronic problem, or perhaps you have already had treatment from your GP, you may want your GP to refer you by letter. Once we receive the letter, an appointment will be sent out to you in the post.

Emergencies

If you have symptoms or you feel that the problem is urgent and can’t wait, you may come to our walk-in clinic, or to any of the drop in clinics listed above.

If you need emergency contraception, you can come to any of our clinics or drop-ins at any time. Many community pharmacies (chemists shops) in the Borders provide emergency contraception free of charge.

If the clinic is closed and the problem is so serious that you cannot wait until the next clinic – for example if you think you have been exposed to HIV in the last few hours, you have been sexually assaulted, or you are HIV positive and feel seriously unwell – you should contact NHS 24 (08454 24 24 24)  or the nearest accident and emergency department.

Staff at NHS 24 and A+E departments can deal with urgent problems and can contact members of our team for advice if required.
